An exploration in serving.

  1. The idea to design such a tray began when we started eating dinner while streaming shows in the family room, as opposed to formally eating at the dinner table.  The tray is designed with a scooped out base for the purpose of resting in your lap, and dually to rest upon flat surfaces to present food and beverages.

  2. These trays utilize the finest materials.  Exotic veneered decks (also available in solid wood upon special request) are edged in solid Wenge.  The design incorporates bentwood arms made from three pieces of lumber laminated together to form convex sides and either convex or concave ends.  Arms vary from clear finished hardwoods to stained woods.  Bases on the bottom side range from natural hardwood to black painted Poplar to ebony stained Douglas Fir.  All trays are finished with three coats of lacquer.  Every tray is different and average about 15 hours of labor to produce.  Each tray is numbered, signed, and dated.

  3. My personal woodworking experience dates back to junior high school wood shop.  Years later that was supplemented in a two year Cabinetmaking program at Los Angeles Trade-Tech college.  Works have been displayed in galleries both in Connecticut and California.

  4. Pricing varies upon several variables, mostly to do with the materials utilized.  In addition, a small handful of the decks are made from solid lumber, which are more costly.

Decks are available in a variety of exotic veneers plus a few in solid wood.  All decks have convex long sides, with a mix of convex and concave ends.  Most decks are edged in solid Wenge lumber.  Veneers include:
